Moderator BOB MARR brings together a career in complex problem-solving, a long history of civic service, and a deep connection to Cobourg.
Professionally, Bob worked for decades in senior consulting across IT, engineering and production systems, supporting organizations in Canada and abroad through complex projects. His career was built on multidisciplinary problem-solving and building trusted, ethical relationships with key stakeholders.
Bob’s decades of civic leadership and service right here in Cobourg include his involvement with Rotary; serving as Treasurer of the Cobourg DBIA — the Downtown Business Improvement Association; working as a team leader with Junior Achievement, supporting youth in entrepreneurship and financial literacy; serving as Club President and Deputy Governor of Kinsmen; membership on the Cobourg Heritage Committee; and for almost a decade, serving as Chair of the Cobourg Committee of Adjustment.
Another part of Bob’s story sits a little closer to the heart - and to home.
Many in Cobourg will know Bob as the founder of the much-loved Buttermilk Café. For Bob, the café was as much about community as it was about food — a place of warmth and hospitality, with a remarkable team and a commitment to making food from scratch, just like home. This nourishing relationship with the Buttermilk gave Bob another way to know and serve the community he loves and calls home - Cobourg.
Bob brings to Cobourg Debates a genuine respect for those in the conversation, the ability to listen carefully and navigate complexity, and a strong ethical compass—qualities that will serve Cobourg Debates 2026 very well.
We are delighted to welcome Bob Marr as moderator for Cobourg Debates 2026
